About two weeks ago, some friends of mine encouraged me to blog regularly again. I admit I had been remiss towards my blogs, but my excuse as usual is family life. To be quite honest, there is not much to write about. There has absolutely been no drama at all in the past few months. So far, life is being really good to me and mine.
I have settled into a routine that consists of the following.
- waking up early
- making breakfast and feeding the family
- doing household chores
- getting my weekly mani/pedi
Truth be told, it is such a sheltered, pampered life. I keep referring to myself now as a spoiled wife. Sure, I still do the chores, but there is nothing, nothing at all, that my husband would not do for me.
Take for example, my craving for food and dining out.
April 28 – The Unplanned Dinner that Started it All
Ribs & Chicken Family Platter at Racks
We’ve been dining out for four days straight now. It started on Thursday. I only wanted to eat at McD’s for lunch because I wanted a Double Cheeseburger. Once at the mall, we enjoyed ourselves too much – looked at stuff, bought something to munch at BreadTalk, bought a swimming pool. We wanted to watch a movie but there wasn’t anything we particularly liked. Come dinnertime, We headed to Festival Mall – we originally wanted to eat at Superbowl of China. However, while we were parking the car, I saw a huge billboard of Racks. I suggested we had some ribs for dinner. So ribs, it was.
At Racks we ordered their Ribs & Chicken family platter, which includes 2 side dishes. We chose their mac & cheese and baked beans. For dessert, we had Mississippi Mud Pie.

April 29 – The “Because I Don’t Wanna Cook Dinner” Dinner
Sogliola Mugnaia at Amici
This is mainly my fault. The night before, I told Anson I only wanted to setup the pool and have some snacks and barbecue at home. However, come early evening, I hinted that I may need to get a haircut. After an hour of debating on whether or not I should get my hair cut, we hauled ourselves to the mall. However, two salons were already closed, and the last one still open that time was already fully booked. So Anson treated me to PCX instead and bought me a new shampoo and conditioner. LOL.
We were supposed to go home already when I hinted I did not have enough time to cook dinner and that I was already too tired from setting up the pool that morning. So we decided to eat at Amici.
Dinner that night was composed of Arancini for our appetizer, Spaghetti al Pomodoro for Alex, Sogliola Mugnaia for myself and Riso al Salto con Zuppa di Pesce for Anson. We noticed in the menu that there’s a heart logo beside mine and Anson’s choice for a meal – the Tuloy Speciali logo. It means that for every order of a Tuloy Speciali meal, P10.00 will be donated to Tuloy Foundation.
We did not order dessert at Amici because we headed to Frutti Froyo afterwards.
The “We’re Turning Japanese” Lunch and “We’re Going Greek” Dinner
Lamb Stew with Moroccan Rice Pilaf
My friends Ida and Gill met with us (myself, Anson and Alex) at Tempura, a Japanese restaurant in ATC for lunch. This is because Ida will be leaving for New Zealand and will be staying there for four months. So, the proper send off is to see one another and talk ’til we’re blue. It was a laid back, relaxed and fun lunch.
For lunch, I had Gyuniku Teriyaki and Chahan. Alex, on the other hand, ate Katsudon. Anson had the Sashimi platter and Gomoku Chahan. We also ordered Ebi Bacon Maki for sharing.
It was late afternoon when we said our goodbyes. By then, we only have an hour or so to stroll around the mall and it was dinnertime. We discussed our options for restaurants and choices for food. We decided to dine at the Cafe Mediterranean.
It was easy to find Alex something to eat, their Ciabatta Pizza topped with olives was a hit. I ordered Lamb Stew with Moroccan Rice Pilag while Anson ordered Pan Seared Fish Fillet with Couscous. And for dessert, Baklava a la Mode. It was heaven.
I noted to myself that I would definitely be coming back to Cafe Mediterranean.
The “Think Greek” Dinner
Chicken Gyro at Cyma
So this morning, I posted on my Facebook wall about how I’m craving to eat out, just something light, and I mentioned Cyma. Lo and behold! This evening, Anson indulged me to a dinner an Cyma! OMG!
It was such a feast. Anson had Mixed Meat Gyro with Roasted Greek Potatoes. I had the Chicken Gyro. Alex had Moussaka (Greece’s national dish). For dessert, we had Milopita a la Mode. It was so good I can just call it a slice of heaven. What a wonderful night for me and my beautiful family.
So, that’s it for recapping the past four days. What a whirlwind of sumptuous dinners. I highly recommend all restaurants in which we dined. It all depends on your taste, of course. But, I wholeheartedly suggest you try Greek cuisine some time, if you haven’t yet. You will surely fall in love with it.
