It is Mother’s Day tomorrow.
One Day Old, September 1st 2006
For some reason, I am not really all that excited. Truth be told I still miss my mom.
However, tomorrow is mine just as much as it had been my mom’s. As part of moving on, I will think of it as my day, too. My day.
Anson and I decided to celebrate Mother’s Day early. We are already expecting the restaurants in which we love to dine to be fully booked, tables hard to come by.
So we decided to have our Mother’s Day dinner tonight. At Cyma. Really, we have gone Greek.
Cyma at Alabang Town Center
Like our dinner last night at The Cafe Mediterranean, we ordered dishes that would be great for sharing among the three of us. We also ordered one specifically for Alex, a pasta dish, something a child would love.
So, without further ado… our Mother’s Day feast.
Spinach and Artichoke Fondue
We did not expect the Artichoke and Spinach Fondue serving to be a large one. It was so filling that by the time our salmon was served, we were already halfway full.
Roasted Cedar Planked Salmon Fillet
The Salmon, as expected, was divine. The texture, the taste… it was like we’ve died and gone to heaven. It was already something just by itself, but adding a few drops of lemon on to it makes it even more delicious.
I am not a food critique, I do not know how to form words to describe a dish, but I do have discriminating taste buds and I know that Cyma’s Salmon Fillet is in a league of its own.
Lamb Gyro
Ooh, the Lamb Gyro…we were not able to eat at the restaurant. We had it wrapped and we took it home. Well, as I write this now, the gyro has already been eaten and enjoyed immensely.
Anson and I cleared it between ourselves while we were watching Gnomeo and Juliet a while ago. Talk about a fancy midnight snack. Yum!
Pastitsio
The Pastitsio was something we ordered for Alex. We know we could never go wrong with feeding a child a pasta dish. It wasn’t your usual baked macaroni fare. What makes Cyma’s Pastitsio stand out is its Bechamel sauce. Definitely a must try!
Galaktoboureko
Of course, we just had to leave room for dessert. Tonight, we had Galaktoboureko to appease our sweet tooth. It was so good, it is imperative I come back for more of it.
And so, we left the restaurants with our bellies full and our spirits, most especially mine, lifted.
It is a good day to be a mommy, just like all the days of the year.
