There are times when we decide and act impulsively, like on a whim. There are times when we deviate from the plan – like when we dined out when we initially decided on takeaway, or that time when we went out in the middle of the night for some coffee.
It is not that we are fickle-minded creatures. We just love trying out different things.
Last night, we originally planned to have dinner at North Park (in South Supermarket). We even already had our orders thought out – two Tai Pao buns, one light serving of noodles, a bowl of congee and a glass of my favorite Four Seasons Shake.
But as we parked the car, Teriyaki Boy caught my eye. Yes, okay, it was my bright idea to deviate from the plan.
Iced Banana Almond Genmai Cha
So, Japanese food for dinner, it was.
As I browsed their menu, I noticed they do not offer Four Seasons Shake. So I opted to try their Iced Banana Almond Genmai Cha. It was something new to me and Anson. So when it came to our table, we immediately took a sip.
It was… different. Anson was not taken by it, though. I decided to give it a chance and let it steep. I even tried to infuse the juices from the lemon slices into the drink by stirring it with the straw. Thankfully, it turned out pretty okay. Anson said the bit of lemon made the taste acceptable. In the end, I learned to appreciate the taste.
Teriyaki Boy, South Supermarket
I took fifteen minutes for our orders to start arriving.
Yakisoba
We ordered the Yakisoba for Alex. We figured it was Yakisoba or Ramen that would be the safest choice for a child when eating at a Japanese restaurant.
Philly Cheese Steak Roll
Philly Cheese Steak Roll! What can I say? I loved it so much! Even Alex had two of them. I’m definitely coming back for more of it.
Unagi Don
Anson ordered Unagi Don (eel) for himself. I did not even have the heart to get a small taste. The only fish I eat are tuna, salmon, cream dory and blue marlin.
Teriyaki Boy Chicken Ju
My order, the Teriyaki Boy Chicken Ju, came out last. I was on my last Philly Cheese Steak roll when it came to our table and I was already half full. It was so yummy and flavorful, though. I just hope they would change their serving dish next time. The square box was a little small for me to eat comfortably.
I was not able to finish my chicken, so we took it home.
The rest of the evening was spent trying to put Alex to bed (he didn’t want to sleep), cuddling and watching Braveheart on DVD. All that while munching on butter cookies.
It was the Philly Cheese Steak Roll and the butter cookies that made my night.
